Delivery Driver, Fuel (DZ) - Hornepayne,ON

Role: The Delivery Driver, Fuel (DZ) position in Hornepayne, Ontario is responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of petroleum products to railway customers within a 20 km radius. The driver will follow the pre-determined train arrival schedule, adhere to safety regulations, maintain accurate records, and interact with customers with a high level of professionalism. More specifically, this position is responsible for top filling the tanker, delivering and offloading fuel to a commercial Railway customer and local residential and commercial customers. The driver will operate a commercial straight tanker truck holding up to 25,000 liters of product.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Fuel Delivery: Operate a standard tri-axle tanker truck in compliance with Transport Canada’s Commercial Vehicle regulations. Display excellent defensive driving skills with the ability to anticipate and respond to potential hazards. Adhere to all Highway Traffic Act regulations while driving by maintaining an accurate daily logbook, using an Electronic Logging device. Transfer fuel from the bulk plant to the tanker by ascending the loading racks and utilizing hoses to fill the compartments.

Safety Compliance and Regulations:Maintain a thorough understanding of, and strictly adhere to the Transport of Dangerous Goods (TDG) regulations to ensure the safe handling, storage, and transportation of hazardous materials. Respond and report appropriately to any emergency situations that arise. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment.

Maintenance and Housekeeping:Maintain the cleanliness of the truck, storage box and garage at the bulk plant. Troubleshoot mechanical problems over the phone with the support of the off-site maintenance team. Take daily dips of the bulk tanks and completing dip sheets.

Maintaining Records and Conveying Data: Documenting and submitting data (post-trip summary, Bills of Lading, TDG report, and delivery slips) daily.  Entering daily shift information into a computerized program and utilizing a mobile phone for communication.  

IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Location: Preferably lives in Hornepayne, ON or other nearby areas.
  • Typical schedule: Monday to Friday, 4:00 pm- 4:00 am shift. 6 days off and 6 days on work schedule
  • Travel Requirement:25% during the scheduled shift.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Licenses and Certifications: Valid Class DZ license and clean driver’s abstract required. 
  • Physical Requirements: Able to lift and carry; or push and pull items from 20 to 50 lbs.Physical endurance is necessary to handle long hours of sitting or driving and the physical demands of loading and unloading cargo and pulling a fuel hose. Able to work on night shift.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1-year commercial driving experience required. Prior experience in the transportation of petroleum products and/or hazardous materials preferred.
  • Technology: Able to use a smart phone to conduct basic administrative tasks.
  •  Skills: Excellent driving skills and knowledge of traffic laws and regulations. Working proficiency in basic mathematics (addition, subtraction, multiplication). Mechanically inclined to detect basic malfunctions on truck being operated. Safety, service, and savings mindset.
